Have you ever tried to photograph your animals? Well, I have. Dogs, cats, hamsters, sheep. In fact, I have tried more than once in my lifetime. Maybe even over a million times. With that in mind, let’s play the “Can You Guess Game.”
You see, I love photography, but more often than not, that perfect shot with that perfect stance, with that perfect expression, with that perfect action is impossible to catch. Thus, I get bloopers. However, in the end, I am able to get an phenomenal portrayal of my stock.
For example, here is the shot that I took yesterday while I tried to take pictures for a possible sheep buyer.
Here We Go!

Of course this will get my buyers to the farm. Can you guess what this is? Possibly my out of focus fingers? Terrific shot! Consequently, I take several hundred more to get perfection.

Well, kind of. Despite the blooper, I end up with an acceptable image. At least I capture a snapshot that incorporates several attentive sheep.
Now, let’s take a look at the next picture that I obtain on film. Can you guess what I try to depict in the photo? What is the mistake?

Can you guess? Of course you can! What an spectacular guess! Correct! You got it perfectly! Awe-inspiring! Thought I’d give you the “finger” again to make sure you understand this common blooper.
Shall We Try Again?
Later, I come up with this beautiful vision. I have a hunch that you will be right on as you speculate what is in this portrait. Can you guess what I was trying to say with this art?

Again! You are on a roll. This blooper is me opening a gate to the pasture. Too bad it is not the image I am seeking to secure.

My eye is on a sweet colored 30ish day old lamb. Most of my viewers are not interested in the workings of my fences. Maybe some, but not most. I believe they would be looking for snapshots of healthy, spirited, quality flock or individual young prospects.
How About This?
Now, see if you can find why I consider the next few photographs bloopers. Can you guess? What fault do they have according to your expertise?
First, Photo Number One – Make A Prediction!

Next, Photo Number Two – What’s Your Theory?

Plus, Photo Number Three – Do You Have A Feeling For It?

Equally Important, Photo Number Four – What Is Your Opinion? Can You Guess?

And Finally, Photo Number Five – Make An Inference.

OOPS! Not Another! Oh-No! – Can You Guess?

Now is this obvious or not? Can you guess what isn’t right with this last pic? Don’t blink or you might miss it.
Correct Or Incorrect? Blooper!
So, can you guess the imperfections in each photo? Let’s review. How good did you do? Photo one depicts a lovely ewe with a branch cutting her head in two. This kind of throws the image, that I want to portray, off just a tad.
Photo two shows, you guessed it, a very, very, very, very close up of an awfully friendly ram. What a blooper! Not something I make a habit of doing, getting so close to a rambunctious ram. In fact, it is absolutely not a safe habit . In short, this is a habit to avoid. A blooper that I can’t repeat often if I value my life.
On the other hand, the third photo is out of focus. Can you guess that this little lamb just will not stand still. It is moving this way and that way, not willing to cooperate. Did you evaluate the photograph correctly? Also, in the background, there is a bunch of “junk” that detracts from the total visual. Yuck!
Can you guess the problem with the next example of “interesting” photography? Photo number four. Perfect! You are right on the money. Checking out the location of the sun is a must. Shadows distract from the concept the artist is trying to convey. What do I want the observer to focus on? The shadow or the sheep?
Now scene five is a no brainer. Don’t let the livestock guardian dog interfere with the concept, even though they are cutier than punch. Enormous snouts and drool are unbecoming in a shot.

This is Boo. She is camera-ready at all times. Not in my face. Not overly aggressive. Not interfering with a planned photograph. When I take a guard dog picture she is always front and center. Posing like a model. Attractive. Eye-catching. Magnetic. Captivating. Boo-Boo! Boo dog!
Final Photo – Ultimate Assessment
Is it the smile that is the blooper in photo number six? I know! The sheep has its ears too far forward. Hum. Maybe too many freckles destroy the optics. Possibly, it is a bad hair day, extremely unruly locks. Nope. Can you guess? Affirmative! You got it again! What a professional! This ewe appears to have no eyes. Bloop! You think that any lady will show off not only her gorgeous smile, dynamic ears, distinct freckles, wavy hair, but also her awesome eyes. Wide open is an appealing way to display a quality female’s alluring eyes.
How Did You Do? Can You Guess Accurately?
I assume that you effortlessly evaluated the errors in my photography. The bloopers! Those are only a few examples of my blunders. For those of you that found it a little difficult to locate the flaws in my handicraft, I return to an elementary photography technique. Photography: 101.

Please. Remove The Finger!
Concluding Thoughts – Can You Guess?
Beyond the shadow of doubt, I never know what will come to mind to blog about. Bloopers just pop into my mind as I look through my phone’s photo gallery. Maybe next time I’ll show you the awesome photo of my ram with seven legs. Since I have been thinking quite a bit about how the weather effects the farm that could be a topic. Stories about dogs can be amusing. How about information on ticks and snakes? Can you guess? Who knows? What will be next?
